Why Not A Blog?
Why Not a Blog?
“What are you going to do with all your pictures?”
A question my wife has posed to me many times.
Yes, it is a fine and sensible question.
A question I am far more open to than the more frequent question, “Have you found those images from ten years ago for me yet?”
She would gladly go back to the time when you dropped your film off at Longs Drugs, picked up the prints a week later, and stuck them in a photo album.
Well, what do I do with my images?
I print and hang a few around the house. Give some to close friends. Sell a few to people who ask. Post them on my website that few people visit.
Considering how many different photo projects I have (mostly ongoing with no end in sight), and how much I think about my work (far more than is necessary), I really should do more with the images, projects, and thoughts.
And, I don’t want to do it all alone.
So, why not start a blog?
Increase purpose. Increase focus. Interact with a small audience- share and get some feedback. If nothing else, it will give me something new to learn and it will stimulate some neurons and slow down the inevitable decline of my mental faculties.
Ideas for my initial series are coming along well, much like dough rising in a warm metal bowl covered with a damp dish towel. Soon, I will get it into the oven and then serve it up to those who come to visit.
